Jobs for 13-Year-Olds

Even in a lousy economy like we have now, 13-year-olds have an easier time finding jobs than most adults, assuming they do not get too picky. Here are some ideas and places where teenagers can find both paying and non-paying jobs.
-Paper routes: the obvious one on the list. Even in big cities, plenty of community papers need low paid workers to distribute their issues.
-Baby sitting: many teenagers can make some pretty good money baby sitting for their neighbors, family friends and in places around the community. Do a good job and you can even get referals for more sitting jobs.
-Dog walking: many professionals and sick people do not have time or the ability to walk their dogs, especially in the mornings. You can make a few bucks taking a few at a time for a stroll assuming you do not get grossed out by cleaning up after them.
-Lemonade stand: or something to that extent. In big cities, kids can make a few bucks selling water, especially in the summer in crowded areas or streets with heavy traffic.
-Government Run Youth Programs: You can usually find a variety of jobs being offered only to teens, especially in the Summer. You can look for these online or find a pamphlet at your local community center.
-Lifeguarding: You will need to pass a test but many pools and gyms look for teenage lifeguards they do not need to pay a lot. Plus you get free access to the pool.
-Small stores: Many local store owners will hire teens to clean up and stock shelves.
-Golf Courses: Carry around some golf clubs for some rich folks and make your money in tips.
-Summer Camps: Many camps look for counselors or assistant counselors in your age group.
-Lawn mowing: See if some of your neighbors will hire you to mow their lawns. You can make some good money if you get a few takers.
